This guide will help you perform a factory reset and clear the memory on your Tap Trio using QMK toolbox.
1. Download QMK Toolbox. Choose the latest non-beta version.
2. For Tap Trio: download the latest Tap Trio V1.3 firmware file.
For Tap Duo: download the latest Tap Duo V1.3 firmware file.
If you are having issues launching QMK Toolbox, please check if you meet the system requirements for QMK Toolbox here.
Open QMK Toolbox, under Local file, select the Tap Trio firmware hex file.
Under MCU (AVR only), select ATmega32U4
You will need to put the Tap Trio/Tap Duo into bootloader mode.
Unplug the Tap Trio/Tap Duo, hold down the left key for Tap Trio or hold down the left quick action button on the Tap Duo, and plug the device back in. Your Tap Trio should be recognized by QMK Toolbox and the lights on the Tap Trio should be off.
The QMK terminal should say
"Atmel DFU device connected (libusb0): Atmel Corp. ATmega32U4 (03EB:2FF4:0000)"
Click "Clear EEPROM" and the memory reset process will start. Once completed, the QMK terminal should say "EEPROM clear complete"
Do not unplug the device during this process.
In QMK Toolbox, open the latest firmware hex file and click flash to flash the firmware on to the device.
Once completed, it will say "Flash complete" and your Tap Trio should be reset.
